Why is there only garbage on the printout?

You want to print out a PDF? There are always some files that were created incorrectly and do not follow the rules exactly. Linux cannot cope with that. So try to print them out with Windows. Use the FAU Box to exchange the files or download it again.

Why is the printer always asking for missing paper in the multipurpose tray?

Check if the multi-sheet feeder is open on the printer. Restart the print job. Contact us if the problem persists.

Kann ich von CIP EEI nach CIP WW drucken und umgekehrt?

Der Druckauftrag wird vom System ohne Warnung einfach verworfen. Sie können nur auf den zugehörigen Drucker vor Ort drucken. Im CIP-Pool EEI drucken Sie auf cipetlas1.e-technik.uni-erlangen.de und im CIP-Pool WW auf cipwwlas1.e-technik.uni-erlangen.de.

Kann ich einsehen wer vor mir in der Druckerwarteschlange ist?

Das ist aus Datenschutzgründen ausgeschlossen.

Warum hat Windows keine Drucker?

Beim ersten Start nach einer Neuinstallation kennt Windows die Drucker noch nicht. Windows einfach nochmal neu starten, dann sollten die Drucker da sein.

Warum ist nur undefinierbarer Schrott auf dem Ausdruck?

Wahrscheinlich drucken Sie eine PDF Datei aus. Da gibt es  immer wieder einige die fehlerhaft erzeugt wurden und sich deswegen nicht genau an die Regeln halten. Linux kommt damit nicht klar. Probieren Sie daher diese unter Windows mit dem Adobe-Reader auszudrucken. Die Datei können Sie über die FAUBox austauschen oder ggf. nochmal runterladen.

Warum verlangt der Drucker immer nach Papier in der Universalzufuhr?

Überprüfen Sie, ob die Universalzufuhr des Einzelblatteinzug am Drucker geöffnet ist. Starten Sie den Druckjob neu. Nehmen Sie Kontakt zu uns auf, wenn das Problem noch besteht.

Why won’t Firefox start in Linux?

Maybe this error message appears: „… always running“. In this and any other cases open a console and enter the following commands:

Warning: any bookmarks will be lost and Firefox will be completely reset to the default settings.

		cd <return>
		rm -r .mozilla <return>

After logging out and back in, it should work again.

Why do I always have an error message when I log into Linux?

Then you don’t have a print account yet. Just click away. It’s normal and no big problem. If you have a print account, a window with the current account balance will appear instead.
